Speed governor supply and installation in Kenya
Who it is for
- Matatu, bus and other public service vehicle (PSV) owners
- Owners of commercial vehicles above the regulated weight threshold
- School and staff transport operators
- Fleet operators who want speed limited by the vehicle, not only reported
The problem it solves
Speeding is a leading factor in serious crashes, and operators of regulated vehicles must keep a working speed governor fitted. An inspection failure or a faulty unit takes the vehicle off the road. Operators need a governor that is installed correctly, documented, and supported if it fails.

Compliance
Under the Traffic (Amendment) Rules, 2013 (Legal Notice No. 219 of 2013), public service vehicles and commercial vehicles with a tare weight above 3,048 kg must be fitted with a speed governor that limits the vehicle to a maximum of 80 km/h. Requirements can change, so confirm the current rules for your vehicle with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Questions about speed governors
Which vehicles need a speed governor in Kenya?
Public service vehicles and commercial vehicles with a tare weight above 3,048 kg are required to have one, limited to a maximum of 80 km/h. Confirm the current requirement for your vehicle with NTSA.
Is a speed governor the same as a GPS tracker?
No. A speed governor limits the vehicle's speed. A GPS tracker reports where the vehicle is and how it is driven. Many operators fit both, and we can install them together.
Which speed governor model do you install?
We confirm the make, model and approval details in your quote, so you know exactly what is being fitted before installation.
