Privacy and data protection notice
This notice explains how Jendie Protracks (“Jendie”, “we”) handles personal data when you use this website, make an enquiry or use our vehicle tracking services. We process personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and its regulations.
Who we are
Jendie Protracks is the data controller. Contact us about this notice or your data at jendieprotracks@gmail.com, by phone on +254 714 449 103, or by post or in person at Chania Mall, 1st Floor, Thika, Kenya.
What we collect
- Enquiry details: the information you enter in our enquiry form, such as your name, phone number, county, the service you are interested in and, if you choose to give them, your company, email, vehicle details and message.
- Customer account details: if you become a customer, your contact details, vehicle registration and device details, and the users you authorise on your account.
- Vehicle data: for customers, the location, movement and event data generated by the tracking equipment installed in your vehicle.
- Website data: technical information your browser sends when you visit, such as IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider records for security and operation.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote, based on your consent and on steps you ask us to take before entering a contract.
- To provide, support and bill for the tracking service, based on our contract with you.
- To keep our website and systems secure and prevent misuse, based on our legitimate interests.
- To meet legal obligations, for example tax records or a lawful request from the authorities.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use enquiry details for unrelated marketing without your consent.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where needed: with service providers who host this website, deliver our email and operate the tracking platform, under contracts that require them to protect it; with the police or other authorities where the law requires it or where you ask us to help recover a stolen vehicle; and with professional advisers where necessary.
Some of these providers may store data outside Kenya. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards required by the Data Protection Act.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details only as long as needed to respond and follow up. Customer and vehicle data is kept for the duration of the service and afterwards only as long as needed for legal, accounting or dispute purposes.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to:
- be informed about how your personal data is used;
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- object to the processing of all or part of your personal data;
- have inaccurate or misleading data corrected; and
- have false or misleading data deleted.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the details above. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) at www.odpc.go.ke.
Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to this website and access controls on customer accounts.
