Driver behaviour monitoring
Who it is for
- Fleet managers responsible for driver safety
- Transport operators carrying passengers or goods
- Businesses whose vehicles carry the company name
- Owners whose vehicle is driven by an employed driver
The problem it solves
Aggressive driving raises the risk of crashes, wears out tyres and brakes faster, and burns more fuel. Long idling wastes fuel without moving anything. Without data, managers cannot tell which drivers need coaching and which deserve recognition.
How it works
The process, step by step
Data from the tracker
The tracker records speed and driving events as the vehicle moves.
Events detected
The platform flags over-speeding, harsh braking and acceleration, and extended idling.
Reports by driver
Events are summarised per vehicle and driver over the period you choose.
Coaching and follow-up
Managers use the reports to coach drivers and track improvement.
Capabilities
What you can do
- Over-speed alerts
- An alert when a vehicle exceeds the speed you set.
- Harsh driving events
- Harsh braking, acceleration and cornering recorded with time and place.
- Idling reports
- How long engines ran with the vehicle stationary.
- Driver performance summaries
- A per-driver view of events over a period.
- Dashcam footage
- Optional cameras add video context to recorded events.
Hardware and software
What is installed, and what you use
Installation
Driver monitoring uses the GPS tracker installed in each vehicle, so no separate device is required. Dashcams are an optional addition that needs its own installation.
Key benefits
- Objective records for driver conversations
- Early warning of risky habits before they become incidents
- Less idling and gentler driving, which lowers fuel and maintenance costs
- A basis for recognising safe drivers
What is included
- Driver behaviour alerts and reports on the platform
- Configuration of speed thresholds
- Training for managers on reading the reports
Questions about driver behaviour monitoring
Do I need extra hardware for driver monitoring?
No. Driver behaviour data comes from the GPS tracker already installed in the vehicle. Dashcams are optional if you want video as well.
Should drivers be told they are monitored?
Yes. Tell drivers what is recorded and why, and handle the data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Monitoring works best when it is used for coaching rather than as a surprise.
